Theoretical Yield
Introduction
-
The amount of a product of a chemical reaction is what we expect to form, that is why it is called "theoretical yield".
- The amount of a product of a chemical reaction is what we expect toIf the experiment is actually done in the lab,
then what we get is called "actual yield".
- In an ideal experiment, the actual yield is the same as thetheoretical yield.
- In a typical experiment, the actual yield is lower than the theoretical yield.
Therefore, % Yield = ((Actual yield) / (Theoretical yield)) × 100
